About Sean McCormack

District Attorney Sean McCormack was sworn in as Cumberland County District Attorney on January 3, 2022, upon the retirement of former District Attorney M.L. ‘Skip’ Ebert.    He joined the office in March of 2020 as the Chief of the District Attorney’s Trial Division and later as District Attorney Ebert’s First Assistant District Attorney. Sean brought a wealth of experience to the office after serving in the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office for 30 years.  Sean worked in the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office from 1989 until 2020.  He was the Chief of Dauphin County’s Child Abuse Prosecution Unit for over 25 years. He received his B.A. from Villanova University and his J.D. from Widener University School of Law.  He was the recipient of the 2019 Leroy Zimmerman Outstanding Dauphin County Prosecutor of the Year Award, the 2010 Outstanding Victim Service Award, the 2008 Pinnacle Health Children’s Resource Center Children’s Hero Award, and the 1998 Samuel A. Yeagley, Jr., Memorial Award for his work in the area of child abuse prosecutions.    He has appeared on the ID Discovery Channel show- The Coroner: I Speak for the Dead.  He served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard for 21 years retiring in 2007 holding the rank of major.  Sean currently serves as the Chair of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association’s Special Victims Prosecutors Network, Co-Chair of the Cumberland County Criminal Justice Advisory Board and a board member of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute.
